The Boat House

At the Boat House

Facilities:

Comprising two beautiful bedrooms, an airy open-plan living area, a fully equipped kitchen and a spacious terrace leading down to the beach, The Boat House sits in seclusion at the far end of a secured gated community on the southern side of Port Vila Harbour.

Amenities at the house include a small library, gas barbecue, an iPod dock, and TV (DVD only). Full housekeeping services are available.

We Supply:

TV and DVD player, a selection of DVDs, novels, magazines, board games, towels, beach towels, all bed linen, toilet paper, soap and all cleaning products, mozzie nets, all kitchenware, large fridge/freezer, toaster and kettle, coffee plunger, Bose speakers for iPod, hair dryer, bike, 2 x kayaks and basic snorkelling gear

What To Bring:

Reef shoes, iPod, DVDs (you can buy them for about $5.00 AUD each in Port Vila, many haven’t even reached the theatres), crocs (forget fashion, crocs are by far the most suitable footwear for the tropical terrain),, sunblock, insect repellent, hydrogen peroxide, antiseptic cream such as Crystaside (for coral cuts), antibiotic ointment (for infected cuts), good waterproof sticking plasters, toys for kids, light clothes and toiletries.

You can bring many food items into the country as long as they are in their original packaging. Don’t bring fresh fruit or veg, and you need a permit for meat and cheese. We usually bring heaps of sliced Vogel’s bread to stash in the freezer (as you can really only buy French bread here), olive oil, nuts, favourite muesli bars, favourite kids foods, etc. You will find everything else you need at the French influences Au Bon Marche supermarket and the 24-hour organic fruit and veg markets in Port Vila.

Food:

Our favourite food experience really has to be a BBQ at The Boat House — gourmet sausages, from Bon Mache and Poulet fish cooked over an open fire down by the beach, whipped straight into a roll of crusty French bread dripping in butter with crumbled blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes and barbecued onions, washed down with a cold Tusker and fresh pawpaw with squeezed lime juice for dessert. Yum! And cocktails while you watch the stunning sunsets.
