The remains found in Vanuatu suggest people have lived on the island for over 3000 years and that the people of New Guinea were the ones to found it.
Crossing to Vanuatu was long and dangerous especially when there were animals and cargo involved. By the late 1800s several French and British explorers followed. By 1980 Vanuatu had become an independent nation. Nowadays, all the islands have their own languages, customs and traditions albeit with a French and British flair.
Our holiday home in Vanuatu is a mix of traditional and modern.
